My hens (pullets actually) refuse the nesting boxes and have one spot against the wall that they ALL prefer to lay. The eggs stay clean and I know where they are, so I've let them. Next spring I am redoing the nesting boxes and going to attempt once more to get them to use them. I do plan on moving her to the kennel once they hatch-thought about trying again tomorrow since moving her at night didn't work but I don't know. Maybe I'll go back out and try. My original girls in my first coop were/are the same way. They would only use one nesting box and all 8 would lay there.
My first broody moved to the cage a couple days before cause the second broody kicked her off the nest and even now 2 weeks later she takes the babies back into the open cage at bedtime. It's so cute.I would try either moving her or blocking them away til chicks are hatched... my best broody allows the others to lay where she sits too and her first hatch 2 chicks got trampled halfway out of the shell cuz she still moved for them in mid hatch... now I move her before they pip and put her back once chicks are mobile...

Good news! I just went back out and tried the move her again and she's so out of it that she let me move her to the kennel and stayed on the eggs! I was able to shut her in. I just hope when she wakes up in the morning she doesn't get all upset and stressed and not sit. They should be externally pipping by morning-noon I would think.
I'm hoping!Yay!! Well, since they're internally pipped hopefully their little cheeps will keep her focused on them and not the kennel...![]()
X 2 Amy!
