After wind, rain, ice, and the occasional snow, I went with tin roofs over 50% of the pens with hogwire over the open areas

See there? I knew you'd have the answer! The verticals on the panels are not exposed, though; they're welded to the bottom side of the horizontal top rail. I was hoping to find a fitting to accomodate the bow AND the horizontal rail of the panel. This doesn't work for long.
Best: Use 45 degree fittings at the end of the bows to connect to vertical pieces, and attach the verticals to the inside of the kennel panels. This will only work if your span is big enough for your bow, and it won't last for too many years before stress cracks start in the PVC. Be sure to use sched 40, not CPVC, about 1" diameter for a width up to 10' and 1 1/4" for 12'

All three of my babies laid an egg this morning. I am a potential grandma.

And I want some of these.

Show me a photo...
The kennel panels I have are 6' high x 10' long and clamp together at the corners. The tops are open, so if I make a shape like this:

I can clamp the verticals to the kennel panels. You could close the bottoms of the bows and attach to the top of the kennel rails, but you will need mid bows too.
My son bought me a head lamp last year. I've just about worn that thing out. Gone through 3 sets of batteries. I think I'll shell out the bucks and get one from LL Bean. That's a great idea. I have a little pen light, that usually ends up in my mouth, when I need both hands. I could use a new hat...![]()
You've left me.... speechless. Um...Just because he made fun of your rooster?
Mama broody leaves her eggs to get cold on a regular basis. So today must be my lucky dayI lost power
it was out 30-45 min before I could report the outage and get the generator going. The incubator temp dropped to about 85*. Will they be ok?![]()
ETA: 95 not 85
What are the hole dimensions of the hog wire? Hawks get through???After wind, rain, ice, and the occasional snow, I went with tin roofs over 50% of the pens with hogwire over the open areas
Those are gorgeous. What???
I think they look like like used snot rags when they are wet. Lol
Hope it doesn't get that bad! And the poor birds just hate it and look so pitiful when it rains all day....
You are going to drive the drakes to them? Could they meet you half way?
I got the picture, but I ain't bright enuf to get it to embed; I'm what you'd term "technologically challenged" I don't even own a smart phone! While I was out there, though, I noticed that I have only one panel with an upright in a position to be of any use; that's in a "newer" aluminum panel. All the others are galvanized, and the only uprights are at the ends of the panels, and not under the tarp.PVC. I used them up north to shelter a deck. I used a long length of PVC and bowed it so that it wasn't under too much stress, then added the 45s and uprights.
