She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I just have to share something that I am so happy about. I have extremely easily integrated my chicks into my flock! They had a separate area in the run that was blocked off. Then I made a portal for them to get in and out. Last night they slept with no heat in the coop with the big chickens! Today they are one big happy family!

That's excellent.

With the hatching troubles you had, I'm glad you at least got a break with the integration!

Go chickies, go!

Sorry about the picture quality, they HATE being held. They kept struggling and trying to get away, lol.

The patterns are great! Can you fill me in on Icelandics? How are they different?

That's good!

I think my husb is interesting in hatching now, too. Last night we watched the light go on and off in the bator.

I think I hit the sweet spot on the thermostat.

Saturday I should be picking up my EE hatching eggs. I hope it's ready. We need to secure the wires on the outside, put in the floor and a tray for a sponge.

x2!

Very pretty birds so far Megan! That last picture looks a lot like my silver duckwing OTEGBs did when they were that size.
Now you've got me thinking about hatching inside vs. letting a broody do it & hoping she does it right. Dang it! Running out of room in my head!

OOPS...that was meant for Ruby

Awesome!

Ok, something happened last night and I don't know whether to panic, or not worry about it.
I went out to the pen to blow some leaves off the top of the run, and into the run, and I lost my earrings. My guess is inside the run, because I was messing with the netting on top, pulling leaves through the overlaps. I was also all over the yard, but its more likely that they popped out while I was bending over in the run, or when I poked myself up through the netting.

My concern is not for the earrings, but I wonder if the chicks will eat them? The ear wires are sterling silver, the drop is actual glass!

I took my pinpoint metal detector out this morning, but it was still fairly dark outside, so no luck. I'm afraid the big metal detector will just set off everywhere because of all the other metal stuff... fence posts, wire around the exterior, etc.

Here is basically what they look like, just different color, which doesn't matter. Should I be concerned that they might eat them?

That's awesome. I'm getting ready to try that with these 2 welsummer chicks this weekend.

Um, shiny, blue, small? They probably never even hit the ground...
