You're in TN, so you maybe don't realize that a truck up on blocks is the most popular lawn ornament in WV, 'specially if none of the body panels are the same color

I'm hoping mine start laying soon! Oh, I might be getting two hens this weekend! But they have not been with a rooster. So if one of my cockerels could figure out how to do the deed, I may have eggs soon!
That's a good idea! I put my first ad up and nothing yet. I'm trying to sell a boy. Kinda just wanted to see if anyone would contact me. I'm thinking of changing it to cockerels and pullets and see what happens.

That's exciting! Which breed are the two hens you might get? :)

In North Carolina they become lawn ornaments that we mow around and eventually when trees and brush grows up through it we can call it a planter. :) The more the merrier.
I'm well aware; Mom was from TN & my brother's in western NC

although they do manage to sling it back on themsevlves and eachother.

Ive been looking into things to plant for pastureland, that ryegrass is a very interesting topic, has anyone tried "white clover?" Thats one of the tops for my land type/geographic area/nutritional needs.

Were about drowned down here, and its going to rain all This weekend too! I cant go into my yard without rubber boots anymore, and those are sunk to the ankles in muck

the realities of the swamp...

And i adopted 20 littles. The man ive been working with found sexed pullets and decided to buy them. But i KNOW theyd be going to their doom to go to his house

idk what im going to do. That brought the littles total to 58!

Then i have 50 eggs in the bator... And im Dying to candle them! Only day 4 so ima hold off, itll be alot clearer picture in only a few more days.
I have not tried the ff yet.

File this one under "Leave it to Craigslist"

I set my local CL to alert me of any new "chicken" listings...on the lookout for pullets from the better "broodiness" breeds

Anyway, I got an email from CL this morning. Opened it & found a post for a used car for sale.

lol

Well my comet girls are all still good. Egg production is down of course. Do their combs get lighter red when they stop laying for the winter? I have a couple whose combs appear lighter.

And I must have 2 LOs laying! Yeah!!
Yay!

Yes, they do lighten up... they'll get red again when they're ready to resume laying... pale combs is a sign of production downtime... as long as they are still active and healthy, no worries... if it happens paired with weight loss, listlessness or sudden food consumption drop then you worry...

Silkies? Oh...pics when you get them!!!!

Being from South Carolina, I'm just glad my mom and dad weren't raised in the same house
We have a town in MD, on the Potomac near Dargon's Bend (WV likely knows exactly where I'm talking about) where I'm pretty sure there are only 2 DNA's represented in the entire town. Everyone you see when you drive along that stretch of the river looks the same, & you don't EVEN want to stop.

There's a place just like that a little west of me. We call it "Georgia"

You mean fertile eggs to hatch? Hens do not need a rooster to lay eggs so that must be it.
