Yes. There are veins around the yolk

Didn't see your comment before I wrote! Glad I was not the only one! Don't you think it's strange though that it's been pipped for so long and still has yolk un-absorbed?

I was glad I wasn't the only one too. Yes, I wouldn't have thought it would still have unabsorbed yolk. Being malepositioned could be the reason. It just isn't ready and why it's not progressed. If the egg is opened too much and that is unabsorbed yolk, there's a bigger chance of the chick coming out and once it's out with that much yolk, chances are it'll rupture and then the chick won't have much of a chance. I would leave it alone, and let nature play this one out.

That looks like yolk to me and if that's the case you don't want that chick coming out before it's absorbed.  I don't see any chick parts.

No, something is not right. I'm guessing here but looks like Un-absorbed yolk. Can you take a pic of the actual pip hole that the chick made? Go in that way. Make the wrong end pip a little bigger until you find the beak.
Eta: have corn starch ready or paper towel. Stop the second you see any blood. Apply corn starch or a paper towel and IF that happens put it back. If not, no blood then start making a zip. Stop if you see blood.

Okay I tried making the pip hole bigger and did see some blood. I was ready with the corn starch so I am very thankful for you guys.

Oops! Hit reply to soon. I stopped and took warm water on a cotton swab and moistened the bottom part of the membrane again and the veins seem to be receding, so that is good. I hope I didn't mess it up.
Oh, and it started cheeping when I was holding it up to look at the veins. . It didn't sound distressed.

I put it back in the bator at that point. Happily and hopefully.

More eta: u can't see its beak in the pic but it is right there at the hole. That was the most blood we saw. My partner was taking the pics for me.

Should be fine, you can rinse under some warm water will knock off that little shell piece if its stuck, and keep her on something soft. No pine shavings or anything rough that she could drag it on.

DH was able to get the shell piece off. The "ling" is currently snoozing in a container inside the brooder safe from the other birds on paper towel.

Okay a really slow grower then. Keep checking on it about every 8 hours. Once the beak a out and it can cheep that's good, but if there's still viens visible at the other end it needs to stay In thier. An egg cup with the beak end up might help it stay more comfortable

Yes, at this stage, with the holes in the egg it will be more comfortable upright. someone else has a pic on here of a chick in an egg cup from when it came out of the shell with the yolk not absorbed.
