She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Ok, after reading Walnut's post, I think she is also suggesting we track each individual hatch.
Right now I have 2 Octagon 20s going. One will be going into lockdown tonight. 28 Ameraucana eggs were set in this one, but based on candling, my fertility rate is horrible. I'm thinking only 10-12 will make lockdown. I will do a full candle tonight at lockdown, and post results tomorrow.
My other incubator will go into lockdown on Monday. 27 AM eggs were set in it, and I am also seeing the same fertility issues in that one

I sell a lot of chicks, so as soon as the first hatch is complete, I will be setting cuckoo marans. Both incubators will be running full time for several months. That's another reason I like a Brinsea with a 3 year warranty

So my question to everyone is: are we going to focus on incubating and hatching here or is it going to be a Frogs 2? New hatchers can get frustrated when there are hundreds of posts from the time their question is asked to when they get back on the thread.

Just wondering what others thoughts are.
Excellent point!
I think the frog is the frog, and those that need to know know where to find it. We are turning this back into the Red/Blue hatching thread

I like it the way it was. Focused on hatching and help but light and chatty in between the more serious discussions.

Firsthand experience:
None, I am a learner here. I did do a broody hatch a few years ago, but that's it.

Brand and model of incubator:
LG 9200 (aka BubbleBator)

How it's equipped (still air, forced air, type of thermostat such as analog or digital, and proportional or not if known):
still air, with some simple modifications, (lego glued to temp control) thermos are LG and hygroset II (digital).

Incubation set temperature and where measured:
101, measured slightly to the left of the heating element on the right side, directly under the window.

Backup thermometer reading and where measured:
LG, same as above exept on opposite side.

What kind of eggs:
EE and BSL crossed with silkie or sultan (13)

How you control humidity and what you tried to maintain:
Syringe through hole in side, about 28-30%.

How long it took to hatch:
N/A

Whether you assisted in hatching:
N/A

What percentage made it to 3 days:
I can't say on that, but day 7 candle revealed 2 quitters out of 15. (2 live, and I wasn't sure what I was looking at for the rest)

Other: I can't quite decide which side I want to join, so I am purple right now. I have managed to only open the bator a few times so far and only candled once. Rather obsessive in the notes department, and can't wait for chicks!
I found that even with the fan, my LG is 1-2 degrees warmer directly under the heating elements than it is in the middle or outside. I also discovered that if I don't have the mass balanced up, (amount of eggs proportional on each side) that the side with the less mass will run hotter as well. I'm a candleling addict. We have a few or had a few purples in here as well...lol

We have had this discussion before. The final hatch rate is the percentage of lockdown eggs, but we also track the percentage that make lockdown from set to track infertiles or early death
How do you link directly to a post#. Do you just have to add /# after or ???

Friday and sc, I think that is an excellent point.

will ya'll continue this thread, or start a new one?

This has always been an incubating thread, but the group of friends got chatty. The divorce caused a new house to be built, but that actually works for what we are doing now. This thread will stay where it is. It's the best hatching thread, with the most different philosophies, ever. If anyone gets to feeling froggy, you know where to go

Well, BYC still hates you. It deleted the question I was going to reply to.
I should have copied the browser bar from the first page, but I did it from the page I was on. That will work fine, because it's the start of the new format. I'm not changing the link for every set
