:frow   Hey you!  How ya been?  You got eggs in the bator??  I bet you have some broodies too

Hay girl things are fine. And you? Got a lot of chickens that went broody. Trying to find where the ducks are laying. Found one in the water, I'm still going to try and hatch it. Lol. Crossing fingers it works. Lol

Good luck! I got my first duck egg this morning since about 2 months ago. Unless there are some under water, which I hope not.
All's well here! 2-week old chicks in the brooder, new batch in the bator on day 6.

Just a update on my Peking Hatching Problem from February. And a big Thank You for all the help I received.

Awe. That's awesome!
I saw the post after this that it didn't make it. I'm so sorry! That's terrible! Can you wrap something like vet tape around the abdomen after you reinsert the intestines?
So you are scaring me. You need to get out of my head!!! That is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

I use surgical butterfly bandages. Normally they work great. But this little one was literally overfull, she was still alive and active this morning, happy and hopping, but knowing that it would be fatal sooner rather than later I euthanized her this morning.

My eggs arrived today. They were not treated very kindly by USPS. I have 9 intact eggs to set, 4 were scrambled and oozing. 3 significantly cracked, with dents, but intact membranes. Given this information, would readers try waxing and setting cracked eggs, or toss them? I attempted candling air cells, but flash light not up to the task. So, my plan is to let them rest. The oldest one was laid 3/17. Should I rest them till this evening, or should I give them till morning? A theory has been bumped around regarding shipped eggs: Keep the humidity up for the first several days to keep as much moisture in the egg as possible, to perhaps help the air cell heal back onto the shell. Then compensate for air cell size later in the hatch. Thoughts??? My intent is to hatch upright in carton. Not sure when I should start turning.

Head... unsure if she'll survive, but she is fighting so I am doing all I can to support her... no, she can't dip her bill, I've been keeping her nares clear for her... she responds to touch but hasn't gotten total head control back yet... she had severe swelling of her head, it is steadily going down and she is getting some control back...
@RavynFallen I hope your lil Call makes a complete recovery

Oh that's horrible handling. I'm sorry! There are so many theories about shipped eggs, I'm not sure what I would do at this point. And with the scrambling and cracking, you're already fighting an uphill battle. I know I would definitely try doing something with the cracked ones, and not just toss them. Good luck with whatever direction you choose.

If the crack is more than a pip/dent, beware. Heating the egg will expand the contents and spread the shell, exposing the membrane to both bacteria and excessive moisture loss. If you are going to try those, cover the crack with a narrow strip of packing tape, not more than 1/2" wide. If they are fingernail sized, I prefer applying clear nail enamel. Apply a very thin coat, let dry, then apply additional coats. This helps reduce the amount of potentially toxic materials absorbed through the membrane.

Seepers just toss.

I set my shipped eggs after 12 hours and started turning immediately. I have not hatched these yet but they are developing well at 17 days including loose air cells.
