She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

one duck has been pipped going on 48 hrs. It is moving and peeping through the hole the membrane around the hole has turned yellow. Humidity is at 80%. Should I assist? The other one is still rocking the egg but no pip, day 31 for it. I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose my baby mallards.

This thread has a few duck hatchers on it. For help with assisting.

Yup. 6 Orloffs and one EE/Orloff from my flock are laying down, and the upright ones are 4 Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and 2 Orloff I had shipped in from Arizona.  They are all that's left from the 18 shipped eggs.  Three look great, and three not so great, but still alive. Air cells were a little small, so I waited an extra day to up the humidity and this morning I saw some starting to draw down nicely.

Sorry about your calls, and hope you get some to hatch!

Good luck! I can't wait to hear how they do!

Surprising to see some of you not a fan of using Candle wax, I have used it from day one to hatching day.  I've also tried the Liquid bandaid, Not a fan of it, to many chemicals that seems to kill the embryo's off at an early stage.. candle wax, actually seals it it..

My hands have gotten extremely dry and have really deep cracks. They are always in water so nothing has been working to heal them up. I found a bottle of that liquid band aid and tried it. Yes, it burns like crazy but it actually worked on my hands. But I dropped the bottle and a piece of the lid broke off, next morning I walked out of my bedroom and the smell of chemicals was overwhelming!! It took me a few minutes to find the culprit. It was coming from the bottle! Made me realize how strong the chemicals really are in that stuff. It stunk up the entire living room!

Spice is still fighting... fluids and food are giving more strength... still gotta see if she'll be able to overcome the damage though...

Ruby, Lacrystol would be your best bet for asking advice and help on those Call eggs... much better than me... :)
I'm just not a fan of putting anything on eggs at all... if it's gonna seep, it's gonna be an issue... personally, I just see if it makes it or not... I do enough assisting and give myself headaches over the Calls, lol... ;)

I'm glad she's hanging in there! I actually accidentally started talking to Lacrystol on FB one day about hatching before I knew it was her from BYC! I greatly appreciate any help I can get!

I do like the smell of it... and glue....and markers......lol  :lau

Me too!

Thanks. It turns out that after getting the calcium gluconate, I figured I should examine her properly prior to administration of the calcium. No egg felt. So after further examination, we have narrowed the problem down to an injury to her right upper thigh. It was painful on gentle manipulation. So she had 1/2 a baby aspirin instead. 1 hour later she managed to weight bear on that leg and turn around. I am hopeful. She is still panting though. I think it may be from the stress and pain. At least I will have the calcium on hand just in case. Looks like you are having a marvelous hatch.

I've read that with egg bound chickens, 9 out of 10 times its not that!! I'm glad you were able to figure it out. Hope she gets better soon. Nice set of eggs you've got going in!

I had to assist the one that was pipped for 48 hrs it was stuck to the membrane. It is out and resting, praying it makes it. The other one I candled it. It had an internal pip, so I poked a little hole in the air sacs so it could get fresh air and put it back in the incubator and raise the humidity. Waiting to see what happens with it. tomorrow will be day 32.
