She-who-needs-a-name needs a name

Thank you

Spay surgery is done! She is recovering and she is half naked, bearing little resemblence to the photos I first posted! I had the vet cut out the really impossible knots (often 2 inches long of rock hard matting, and there were umpteen numbers of them) while she was under anesthesia. Now of course she wants to go out and it's 10 degrees. First we have to recover from surgery and then we need fur. I have looked around for little fleece sweaters! Unfortunately the vet also found plenty of roundworms so I have to get some wormer. (She was wormed on 12/2 by a vet's office that said only once dose was needed with the product they used - I questioned this, doubting the voracity....but they assured me. They make so many mistakes but a kind neighbor had brought her there hoping a clean bill of health would help find her a home...these were the folks that said she was spayed...)....
Unfortunately my beloved kitty Samantha is stressed big time about this new kitty and I don't see any improvement in how she's feeling - this is not good.

So glad to hear she is recovering nicely. Yes, she needs fur in this cold weather, but she's not thinking of that. I hope her days of "going out" are over. She is a little too much "party girl" and not enough responsible young lady! I'm sure she feels a lot better without those mats pulling on her skin all the time. People don't realize how painful matting can be for the animal.

I feel so bad for Samantha. Is there no hope of them becoming friends? If, when she recovers, "No Name" becomes an indoor/outdoor kitty, she just might disappear back to where she came from. I am not in favor of letting cats roam outside--mine are all indoor only, and I have seven of them. Of course I pay for that with a certain amount of territorial peeing.

Maybe get some of that hormone calming spray (Feliway). Drs. Foster & Smith carry it, and maybe Petsmart as well.

Regarding that other vet--it's frightening to think someone can be in practice and do such a poor job. Maybe the cat was only seen by techs and not the actual vet. I am a nurse and sometimes we had to rein in nursing assistants who were giving medical advice to patients and telling them things that were not even true. It's called "practicing medicine without a license".

Wishing you all the best for success with this new kitty, and I do hope Samantha will come around. I know it's hard for you to see her all upset, but give it some time before you give up on it.

Have been giving catnip, spraying Rescue Remedy and giving Sam Pet Naturals anti-stress treats. No luck yet! This may require whiskey! (kidding?!?!?).

(Casey, sad to say it was a vet and not a tech who made the errors....

Won't be seeing that person in the future!)
