I have a 2 year old white leghorn hen. She is shedding her feathers like crazy. They are everywhere. It looks like a down and dirty fight but I have not heard any ruckus or see any signs of a fight. I've checked on her to see if she is being picked on. I see no signs of that either. There are white feathers everywhere. There's the long ones and the little fluffy ones. Is this normal? This can't be the time of year for this, in two months the temps are going to start getting cooler. Any suggestions?

each bird molts at different times. Most of mine molt during late july through august. but I have had some do it in dead of winter.

So it's normal that she is molting right now.

She's molting. Can you see new pin feathers coming in?
Upping protein, especially animal protein, can help them come back into feather a bit more quickly.

Yep. Molt. I had one that would do it in the dead of winter, always. It would be 10* below 0F, and she'd be running around in the coop looking like she belonged in the poultry cooler at the grocery store. She always had a very hard molt, blew her entire cover all at once.
