The question has been raised about raising sheep ? I have had them for several years and also Rent Pasture to Growers in Idaho , every year for Lambing season to get them out of the snow and Ice !!!... For a Smallholder . I recommend "Khatadins" (hairsheep) they are prolific , require NO shearing !! and their Lambs hit the ground running !!! ..... ALAN B .

Hair sheep are great in areas where it is hot and humid, since they are self shearing. I have a couple (just for pets) and I love them.

They are great for colder climates as well. They thrive in our mountains and will grow hair/wool according to the low temps, especially if they are not overnighted in barns. They don't stink and their meat has a better flavor due to the minimal lanolin in their hair/wool.

I love hair sheep and, in particular, Khatadins!
