Shelby’s weekly writing prompt!

The POTD for June 23 will be:
Describe your favorite color, without saying it.
My favorite color is neither blue nor green
But perhaps a little in between ...
It's rare in nature,
Yet can be seen ...
It's in some duck's tails,
A lovely sheen.

Maybe the stones a lady wears
Around her neck, that gather stares.
Set in silver, blossoms long,
Smooth to touch, you can't go wrong

To wear these at a gathering
Of Tribes or Nations, they say Wealth
And also give the wearer health.

This color dwells beneath the ground
But also speaks of evening sky,
And in the waters can be found;
It is the color of Nature's eye.

My color is turquoise. I speak first of the color in a teal duck's tail. Then of the stones in a Native woman's squash-blossom necklace.

June 25 POTD is: describe your favorite food, as creatively as you can.
I made some today.
And I thanked God
For the glorious sense of smell.
As it baked, its aroma filled the house
And my mouth began to water
In a purely Pavlovian response.
Oh, hurry! my salivating senses cried;
I can't wait!
But
Wait I must.
Another twenty minutes for the timer to ding,
And another thirty for the loaves to cool.
Oh, sweet torture!
Finally, oh-
Finally! I take serrated blade to loaf
And cut the first enticing slice.
Then, slathering it with butter -
Real butter, not margarine!
I open my mouth and introduce the soft warmth of the first bite
Into its eager maw.
Fresh, home-baked bread.
Mmmmm.
There is nothing like it.
Keep your cakes, your pies, your brownies,
Away with your sweets.
Bread. I love bread.
