We converted a Lowe's resin shed into a chicken coop. So far, we just have a rooster and a hen (both Australorps). Their perch is about two feet off the floor. There is a shelf up higher for storing tools. Both birds have been sitting on the shelf for awhile now to sleep. Is that ok? It makes cleaning uber easy, but I didn't know if there would be any unforseen health consequences.

Yes, it is okay. Chickens will perch as high as they can. I have one who has somehow managed to find her way to the transom above the doorway dividing the coop.

She is there every night now. If you are okay with them sitting on the shelves, then they are definitely going to be okay with it.

Sometimes a larger chicken like yours prefers a shelf. I had one. Like you, made cleaning easier for me. No problem.
