We converted a Lowe's resin shed into a chicken coop. So far, we just have a rooster and a hen (both Australorps). Their perch is about two feet off the floor. There is a shelf up higher for storing tools. Both birds have been sitting on the shelf for awhile now to sleep. Is that ok? It makes cleaning uber easy, but I didn't know if there would be any unforseen health consequences.

Yes, it is okay. Chickens will perch as high as they can. I have one who has somehow managed to find her way to the transom above the doorway dividing the coop. Sometimes a larger chicken like yours prefers a shelf. I had one. Like you, made cleaning easier for me. No problem.
