Hi, my duck has been egg bound for 3 weeks now, this has been confirmed with the vet. I have been advised to give warms baths, tummy massages and antibiotics twice a day. She was xrayed last week and it shows the egg has broken and is in a few pieces. I’ve been advised by the vet to carry on with the baths, tummy massages and antibiotics until it works it’s way out. Just wondering if anyone had experienced this before and if there are any tips to help her pass the shell? Thank you.

Goodness 3 weeks it’s amazing she is still alive sounds like the antibiotics have been keeping the infection away. For egg bound the treatment is what your vet described other than adding some form of calcium to it. Best one is cal citrate calcium gluconate or if in a pinch till you can get either of the first 2 try crushing up 2-3 tums in water and let her drink that. Sure she can pass it all out. Please keep us updated.
