Hii i'm kinda new here and have a bit of a problem.

One of my Hens (a golden laced wyandotte) keeps laying a shell less egg, shes been laying them for a few months now.

i feed a mix of organic laying pellets, rolled oats, wheat and oyster shell (both in feed and free choice).

also shes been eating them lately which i don't think is good.

please can some one help me!

Hello, maybe someone with more experience can help! I would have just suggested Oyster Shell, but if you are already giving her that, then I really don't know.

If you put a bowl under her when she lays, you won't have to crack the egg for your breakfast.

maybe she is needing a little more protein I don't know. I hope someone has an answer for you

I have a wyandotte that does that periodically. I too have free choice oyster shell and pellets. I also started putting out yogurt for the girls. That seems to have helped some. I also upped their protein with some tuna and black oil sunflower seeds.
She still periodically throws a soft shelled egg. My dogs love them!

Good luck!

ok so i have put some whole milk in a 1 gallon water for them and been feeding yogurt mixed with some oyster shell, oats, wheat, pellets, and a bit of game bird crumbles.

so far her membranes on the shell less eggs have gotten tougher and thicker but no shell yet

i think she might of started laying 2 shell less eggs a day tho as i found a wet next before i saw her lay her egg or i might have 2 hens laying them

i doubt a hen ate an egg as there was 2 untouched eggs in the nest but there was a hen setting on the nest before i found out it was wet (she was drinking the egg white/broken yoke and there was no egg shell in the nest when i cleaned it)
