hello. I had a hen lay this am -about 9. I just went out to let my girls free range and she was in the nest box again... I left her alone and she eventually came out. She had layed a Shell-less egg at about 7 pm. She was normal before and after. Was it shell-less because she already layed this morning? Are shell-less eggs safe to eat?? Thanks so much!!! I attached pics of the shell-less egg and her normal blueish green egg. She’s an Ameracauna about 2 years old. I’ve only had her for 2 months tho. She’s a great layer. Pretty steadily lays once daily, although she did not lay yesterday. Could she be making up for that?? It’s hot here in MS.

Could be the heat.

Could be her production is slowing prior to molting...you can get some funky eggs around molt time.
