My girls are 2 years old (today actually! Happy Birthday Ladies!) There are four of them and all but one (my Gold-lace Wyandotte, "Pox") are laying.
Today I was working in the yard and Pox came out of the henhouse singing the egg song so I went to check and there was egg yolk all over the eggs that were in there and no broken shells at all..... We had a couple shell-less eggs when they first started laying at 20 weeks, but other than that, no probs.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
I think there was a little membrane. When I was washing the other eggs there was something stuck on one that could have been that. Pox has a pretty fluffy backside and doesn't care to be handled much at all so I just tried to peek at it. It looked the way it always does.
