I incubated 6 to start with. 2/6, or even 3/6 if the last one hatches, is waaaaay below my average hatch rate. I’m still not 100% sure what the issue is, but I’m glad I ended up with some chicks after such a big disappointment in the beginning. I’ll be incubating again in a bit and exploring higher protein feeds and vitamins as well to see if that makes a difference. I changed nothing about these guys compared to my other hatches, so I’m hoping it was a fluke or maybe even a bad bag of feed or some other random one time factor.
I’m enjoying these babies before I send them off to go live with a friend of mine, and I’m glad they are healthy and active. Two chicks is better than zero, which is what I thought I’d end up with for a moment.
