shellless eggs

I am sure the change from winter to spring makes a difference . my head just turned a year. Thank goodness none tried eating those shell less eggs. They have everything they need. Just wish I knew which one was doing it but they all look alike lol.

It won't hurt a bit if they consume the shell-less eggs...mine do it all the time if they were burst upon delivery. They don't know to do so if they don't break open and won't deliberately open such an egg...over the years I've found many a "leather" egg on the coop floor beneath the roosts. They only clean up the damaged, leaking ones, be they on the ground or in the nests.

No matter what old wife's tale you've been told about feeding shells or raw eggs to your chickens and it causing them to cannibalize their own eggs, it's all false information. Generation after generation of women keeping chickens in this family and us old wives can tell you that is nothing but poppy cock.

Well my chickens don't even eat them when they are broken. My hens are spoiled rotten so never lack in anything lol.

I just had one of my orpingtons lay a shelless egg with a shelled normal one inside it. Anyone else ever seen this?
