She's a He...now what???

I say advertise him on Craigslist--maybe there's someone out there looking for a roo that *doesn't* want to eat him! We have a friend up in the hills who's got hundreds of chickens--wish we were close enough to come get him, because she'd take him in in a heartbeat! I know you'll find him a good home!

yea I really hope someone will take him that needs a Roo.

Burbs- maybe I should have prepared my kids for something like this....but we took the pet route and are emotionally invested in our birds and were not experienced enough to have the fore thought about the what if's. Giving him up to someone else for table or Roo is going to be hard either way. Now in hind site.....

my daughter is bummed we will have no blue eggs....but understands the "boy issue".

I pass by some Amish farms on the way to work, I'm going to stop and ask if they need a Roo or know someone that does. If not I'll try C-List...but he needs to go before the neighbors get too annoyed.

Sorry, I did not mean to sound so callous. Every time I lost a chicken when I was a kid it was heart breaking. I swore that my children would be more prepared.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

No worries...I appreciate your point as well...Obviously you remember what it was like and I fully understand your position you have taken with your own kids now and I totally agree with you.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question !

My flock is for eggs but I admit I am attached to them and if I loose one for any reason it isn't easy and I'm an old fart.
