Our Buff Cochin bantam pullet, Pumpkin, was broody. 2 eggs died while hatching, and even though she still had some that were good under her but were just younger, after a week after the other 2 died she gave up. So we put the eggs she had abandoned in our homemade bator, which already had some other eggs in it but had plenty of room anyway. Last Monday 1 of the eggs she was setting on hatched!

Now, a few days after abandoning the eggs, she got back on the nest! So she got off them, we took them away, she stayed off of them for half a week, then went back in and started to sit on some more that our other chickens laid!

She's now been setting for a week or so, so we are just going to leave her alone and let her be a broody if she wants.

Broodies are so crazy; they can't makeup their mind!
