Shhh I’m hunting a fox!

Pics
I live trapped 4 fox and gave 4 others lead poisoning since beginning of April. I am hoping there aren’t anymore coming my way. Yes, you can live trap, it just takes patience and an extra large trap.
I have both live trapped and used leg traps. Now because quite a few land owners here are dividing up their land and selling parcels we are getting people buying and building. I have caught a couple of cats and seen some dogs. I bait and let the fox take the bait but only I eliminate if they have killed any of my birds.

You need to do something. I have a fox around where I live. A few years ago it went crazy and killed 5 hens, which sucked 'cause I only had 12. One of them was my favorite hen. I still see the fox hanging around the chicken coop sometimes. I think he's waiting for another chance.

:welcome :frow This was my Gladys. She was a special needs bird and a real love. She would come to me when I called her. She was very special. She was 3 years old when a fox took her during the middle of the day even though I was out working on the coops. It broke my heart. I knew it was a risk but she loved to make her rounds. Gladys on DH's lap. She would just hop up.

Yeah, Fuzzyfoot was kind of like that. If you wanted to pet her you could just sit next to her and she'd stay there for hours. She wouldn't hop on you lap though, she was a rather large chicken and not very fit.

So I knew I had a fox around. Just couldn’t find him. Anyways it’s 730/8pm and I look out my window to see how the birds are and if they’re starting to go in their coop.
I see them all flocked to one side of the run staring at something....
I look over and I spy a fox.
well I wasn’t gonna let him get any closer cause they’re my birds. I grab my .45 and fire one off at it.
I did not expect to hit as it was 50-60 feet away and I was standing at the back door of the house.
Well it ran off quicker than my sons snot rockets fly.
How likely is he to return tomorrow night around the same time?
what if I put a live rooster (I have 7 in my flock and one is a jerk I’ve been considering culling) inside a small wire dog cage (alive) and use it to bait the fox.
I have my rifle and my bow nearby now so he won’t escape again. I promise you that.
I just need to know what you experts might have to say on when I might expect him, will he try coming the same way again? Will live bait help?
Thoughts? Ideas?
How about cull the bad rooster and use unwanted part and feather for bate? Just hang the bate 4 feet off ground. After few days the bate will be sting, dug a deep hole and bury for compose and continue as a bate. Good luck!

I hung a dead bird in a tree as bait trying to catch a coyote. It would walk around it but wouldn't touch it. I put a camera out to see what it would do.
