Shhh I’m hunting a fox!

Hmm... trophy I’m guessing? Would be interesting... kids might like it.
So you just cut the tail off with a hatchet and tie it up to a tree branch for a month?
I had a friend hang it in the garage as a joke but he forgot about it. About a month later he remembered it, it didn't smell, and he attached it to his truck antenna to show off.

An update to my post!
Night one yielded poor results in ridding my girls if this pest. I put my bantam rooster in with the hens about 30 minutes too early. I saw the foxes eyes later that night in the wood line when I let the dogs out front to use the bathroom.
I called it a night and made a note.
Tonight!
I put the birds away and left my bantam out in his dog cage (30-40 ft from my back door).
Put the dogs away and checked the time.
730pm
I left the back door open turned off all lights and waited. I went out again at 830 and used my red light attached to my compound bow and scanned the darkness...
He was there watching and waiting but started off when he saw the light.
We did this one more time ten minutes later.
So I went back inside and dimmed my light so it wasn’t as bright and waited.
915pm I heard my Roo flap and make some noises! I went to investigate.
There it was! Darting back and forth testing the cage! Trying for an easy meal!
I drew back on the bow and aimed, praying I wasn’t too rusty from not shooting for three months and my concussion...
I loosed the arrow and poof! It buried into the dirt by the cage missing the fox who darted back to the wood line further back and glared at me waiting...
I reloaded another arrow and drew back again, took a deep breath and exhaled... thwack! The lighted nock on my arrow went running through the woods!
I found my arrow 150 meters back in the woods bloody but no fox.
I walked back towards where I shot it and discovered it’s body behind a tree and an interesting blood trail. I believe now the arrow went through him and into the woods, and he just ran in a circle and died.
Small little fellow. Stinky too.
Shame, I was hoping it was a touch bigger so I could get it skinned and made into a hat or just mount it’s skin on the wall...
Be advised the photos are graphic.
The video wouldn’t upload for some reason
You are not done yet. Fox you got may not even be doing the killing yet. Mom or dad still around, possibly with an older sibling.

I’m looking forward to it. I’ll shoot them too and take their tails also.
I’m going to repeat the live bait once every week or two and see if I can spot anything. This is my flock, I won’t have them taken by some fox and family

Nice shot !

When I was young I used to hunt. Nice bow...
Thank you.
I’m trying to become more knowledgeable of hunting and do it more often. My son is two and is like to teach him when he’s older and share that with him.

Definitely appears to be a young fox in summer coat. Appears healthy though. Recently kicked out of his mom's den I'm sure (I used to raise domestic foxes). Congratulations on the kill. I'm sure your birds are grateful 🍾 I agree that where there is one there is most likely more as this one was young. Best of luck!

Yeah my wife isn’t too happy, she thinks fox’s are cute and as long as the coop is secure and built right there won’t be an issue...
I however think they have temptation there in front of them and if you are tempted enough and hungry, eventually you’re going to find a way.
I also like to let the birds free range and can’t watch all 40 at one time. I’ve seen the fox in day and night hours so it wouldn’t surprise me if he were to take one while free ranging
I’d rather be safe and take out the potential threat
