Shhh I’m hunting a fox!

I just don't want to worry about the birds. They nice large safe pens that they would rather be in. Even when I have opened the gates they may come out but before long they are all back in their nice shady pens. My land is open pasture with not much shade. They don't like being in the hot sun.

This is my property. No trees, no place to hide. Here most of the predators hunt at night especially in the summer because it's so hot during the day, dusk to dawn. On occasion a predator has shown up during the day. There are woods across the street from us on the East side and behind us. You can see most of the coops and pen. This is an older picture and there are some trees in some of the pens that were too small to show up in the picture.

The trees have grown some since this picture was taken. I need to take more current pictures. All of the pens have rain/shade tables that the birds like to get under.

Why so many different pens?

I have had several different breeds of birds in the past. These are the ones I have now. Pure (Heritage) Single & Rose Comb Rhode Island Reds, Rose Comb Rhode Island Whites, Single Comb White & Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns.

She has breeding groups!
Here we have smaller pastures, and trees, so a different environment, and more cover.

Oh nice, so just one group of birds in each pen?
I wish there was someone around here I could trade chicks with for something like that haha

Well, one of them made he mistake of coming back. Literally trotting toward my coop. And toward my scope.
That’s about the size of mine I’m stalking.
I have my rifle and my bow out waiting in the living room.
Rifle if he comes during the day and bow if he comes at night since it has a red light mounted to it.
Last night he came back but it was after dark and he stayed in the woods.
I didn’t leave my live bait rooster out long enough it seems
So tonight we will be waiting for a longer period of time to get that little vermin
