Shhhh... They were in the... NEST BOX!!!

I bet that since we leave friday morn to go on vacay at 9am they will lay at 9:01am so the neighbor boy can find the first egg! Anyone wanna take that bet? LOL

It took about 1.5 weeks after they were making holes in the nest box. I got my first egg today! One thing I noticed different when in the nest box today was my RIR was taking the pine chips and placing them all over her back.

It won't be long now! Hopefully your girls will produce faster then mine.

One of my EEs, Stella, laid her first egg on her 19-week hatchday, that was last Monday. I had gotten 7 pretty blue eggs out of 8 days. Now if the other girls would get on the bandwagon, or should I say get in the nestbox...LOL!

Sounds like you'll be getting those first eggs really soon now.

We have 24 Barred Rock pullets - all 22 weeks old and they just 'started' about a week ago. Today we got 6 eggs which is the
most we've gotten so far and we are so excited. There is nothing like looking into those nests and seeing those gorgeous
brown eggs!

I was totally blown away when I went out to the coop and found 3 of the teeny tiniest eggs I've ever seen laid by my 3 newbies who are exactly 15 weeks 6 days old. All THREE of 'em laid for the first time on the same day. They're RedStars. I also noticed the day before that suddenly their combs were bright red. Hadn't noticed before but the day before they laid their first eggs seemed as if their combs had actually grown up about 1/4" and were suddenly bright red. I hadn't even noticed mine paying any attention to the nest box. Was super suprised they all started laying so young.

Good luck with your young ladies!! They'll all be starting soon!! The wait is worth it........
