Shipped Eggs Smashed and Stinky-Do I Incubate The Intact Eggs?

Those are horrible - who in their right mind would ship eggs like that? Heck - sometimes I worried about a dozen eggs I bought at the store making it home in their carton if the bag spilled over off the seat.

Sadly, I agree with those who advise to not try to incubate. There is just no excuse in the entire world - it's either complete ignorance or being totally lazy an either way, it's not acceptable.

Thats ashame you received the eggs in that condition. In my opinion, even if the post office did rough handle them...these eggs should have been packaged better. I received shipped eggs from 2 people and both sellers individually wrapped each egg with bubble wrap, then again afterwards, then loaded the sides of the box with newspaper & bubblewrap. I received each one without a crack. I wouldn't take the chance and contaminate the other eggs. Like the others said, I would definatley contact the seller with pictures and ask for another shipment of eggs on them. If they are good respectful sellers they will send you another shipment of eggs for nothing.....and wrap them better.

WOW that is a horrible packing job!!! I sent eggs to a fellow byc member once and i did my research before i packed them up. I wrapped each egg in bubble wrap twice, one piece around the egg and another from top to bottom taping each one. with the remaining bubble wrap i packed the insde of the shipping box on all sides with it. Not one broke

Seller doesn't agree 100% that the problem was in the packaging and has decided to refund my money.

I have learned a valuable lesson through this and that is that I have to ask how a seller ships their eggs before I buy.

I guess I naively believed that any one who sells hatching eggs is going to make sure they know the best way to package them to insure they make it to their destination whole.

Especially since so much of a seller's reputation will depend on how consistently their product (eggs) arrive in good shape giving them the best chance to hatch out.
