shipped eggs straight under the hens?

i basically took the eggs right out of the box they were mailed in and put them under my two broody hens, they took right to them.
it seems to me, as the chick lays the egg, she naturally would sit right on it until it hatches thats why i didn't let it "cool" for a day or two, they eggs i bought were very inexpensive so i don't have much to lose, besides, i plan on selling the brooder i made when i'm done.. hope it works!!

Letting them rest after shipping is not to cool them but to let the air pocket redevelop.

A hen won't normally sit on the first egg. She'll lay for 10 days or so going about her regular business and after she feels she has enough she'll go broody, quit laying and start incubating.
