I have bought two batches of chicks from a store before but I've never had eggs before. I'm thinking about ordering 12 ayam cemani eggs and giving them to my hens to raise but I have no experience with hens laying on eggs or with shipping eggs. I want to know if this is a bad or good idea or if there is something I should know first or a way it would work better... any advice or comments.
Thank you so much.

I hatch shipped eggs regularly and the hatch rates vary depending on how rough shipping is on them. I've had 100% hatch rates and 0%, so it's all luck of the draw. If you want your hens to hatch them, make sure that you have a broody before you buy the eggs. There's no way to make a hen go broody so don't buy eggs and think a hen will just sit on them for you, you'll want to have a broody ready.

Also with the ayam cemanis don't buy eggs from just anyone, especially if you were looking on eBay. eBay has been erasing negative feedback through some loophole and there is one person on there who has been selling hybrids as pure for over a year. Always make sure if you're buying from eBay that you check outside of eBay to see what people are saying about that seller so you don't get scammed. You can also check this thread if you want; people who are buying eggs are often posting on this thread with their experiences.

Hm. Thank you so much... I have a lot to think about.
