shipping adult birds??

Hey, just a couple weeks ago I paid an average amount for a pair of birds over 4 months old, but the total ended up to be over $100. . . I'm not disappointed at all for what I paid.

Also, handling is indeed different. And reactions too. Boy was my PO surprised to hear something crowing in the building when they began work that morning.

I remember one time looking at REALLY rare salt water species for sale. . . . Then I thought about shipping, and the chances of such a fragile thing surviving the trip?!

Some of those, like the Achilles Tang, are sensitive enough as is. . .

Used to do it all the time. I still have a bunch of styro boxes that we used. The secret was to use very little water and a lot of oxygen.

ETA: And hope some idiot didn't leave them sitting on a loading dock. Of course this is the secret in shipping any live animal be it fish or fowl.

I never would have thought that you could ship lizards and fish, etc. But then again, as I think about it - how else would it all get around to pet stores, feed stores, etc. Cool!

I can remember using babysitting money to order all the things they used to list in Sports Afield and gee what was the other mag??? Oh well.

Fish get shipped all the time. Birds too.

I haven't shipped in of either for about 5 years but I used to use FedEx. Need to ask my ex SIL if they still do that. Used to be the only way I would ship my exotic birds.

I just came back from the local post office and was told that express shipping for an adult roo from Boston area to Pittsburgh area would take two days. Is that a safe amount of time for him to go without food and water? I thought the whole purpose of sending him express was to get him there overnight...
