I have no idea which topic to put this under, so hope this one will do or one of the moderators will put it where it belongs.

I have shipped adult chickens, but never chicks. Can someone give me some suggestions or "must-do's" on how to do this properly. I read an article on the Internet which stated that it was actually better to wait until they were several days old to ship them, instead of at day-old age. Any thoughts on this?

And what about warmth? How do i keep them warm during shipping? Can i place hand-warmers in the box? Is there a standard shipping box which must be used?

Any help would be much appreciated.

The post office will not take several day old chicks. Newly hatched chicks have absorbed the yolk and thus can go up to three days without food and water. Conveniently, it only takes about three days to ship most anywhere in the continental US, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Put them in a well-insulated box that conforms to the standards provided by the USPS and wish them the best of luck on their journey.
