Shipping Boxes for Chickens

What options for boxes are there for live chicken shipping? I know there are specialized boxes for shipping but I was wondering if you could create your own shipping box with air holes.

I doubt it. Plus, I wouldn't risk it with live birds since shipping already stresses them out. Add a questionable shipping container and you just might not have live birds at the end of the trip. I would contact the post office though to ask if they have regulations that must be abided by, which I think that there probably are, before trying to design any new box.
