Shipping eggs and chicks

I was wondering how you guys ship and pack your eggs? Are there certain boxes you have to use? Any regulations?
What about chicks? Regulations, certain boxes?
Any tutorials?
Where do you get your supplies?

You might get a better answer asking someone who sells chicks. I just received my shipped chicks today. They were shipped from Meyer hatchery. They ALL did great! They were packaged very nicely and thoughtfully with the chicks needs in mind. Mine had a heat pack to keep them cozy with special nesting material on the bottom and sides. They were hatched and shipped yesterday, arrived today healthy and happy. Of course there are regulations for shipping. You can call and ask any hatchery and they can best tell you what those are. The hatchery can also best tell you hatch rate of shipped eggs as well. Most shipped chicks do quite well. Most hatcheries take extra care to insure their safe and comfortable journey.

What are those tubes? That you use? And do you just ship priority? Do you mark it as fragile or special handling?

I will not put hatching eggs I just put fragile and this end up. I am convinced hatching eggs on the box brings unwanted attention. Yes priority 2 sometimes 3 day if going to Alaska or Hawaii. Usually 12.65 shipping
The containers are sterile medical specimen cups (4oz)

There are a multitude of ways to package and ship eggs. Hatch rate will vary from 0-100% depending on roughness in shipping, incubator, hatcher's experience, and so on

Chicks need to be sent in approved shipping containers (Horizon or similar).

Thank you for posting this! I have chickens, but have never incubated eggs before, and was also curious as to how fertile eggs get shipped. Great info!

You're welcome they are packed and shipped a bunch of ways this one is just mine and it works for me. I would also highly suggest the Hatcher use Broody hens in lieu of an incubator to give them more chances of success.

How do you guys ship 1+ week old and adult birds? Do they travel wit food/water. Can you use a chicken box for 2 week old chick's or would you have to use an adult bird box.
