Shipping eggs to other countries

Because of the fear of bird flu no live birds are allowed into Australia, even the official zoos are not allowed. There are no more Flamingos left in Aus, the last one died this year and they are not allowed to bring anymore in!! Madness, I know!

Hmm okay sounds all too hard. What about importing live chicks or chickens?
The same story goes for anything egg or live. You would probably have to show an incredibly good reason for importing and there would be a huuuuuuuuge amount of paperwork, vets visits, quarantine (for months), fees (and they loooove high fees there for stuff!). You'd want to be seriously wealthy I imagine! Why so much interest - have your found a breed that doesn't exist there? I suggest that if you really do want to look into it that you go onto the official wesite where you can find out what you need to do and if it is even possible.

Hmmmm OK maybe the egg thing isn't as bad as we all imagined it to be:

I didn't know that! I kind of get it, we are so isolated and that has kept us safe from so many diseases and pests that it would be silly not to keep us safe (says the girl who has bought in Danish sausage from Denmark in my case - was so scared when the dogs came near the bags at the airport :lau)/

No wonder people don't do it often! :lau
All too hard. I was asking because I want to get into breeding blue laced reds - like Jerry foleys ones. I just can't get my hands on any reasonable ones in Australia to start breeding with
