Shipping fees

Is charging $50 deposit on the shipping box and an additional $150 for Insurance normal when buying online? I am new to buying baby chicks online, so I’m not familiar with regular practice from hatcheries
Thank you for any advice,
Doreen
No! I wouldn’t entertain any of that at all! Several years ago, when deciding which breeders to use in my area, distinguishing scammers from legitimate ones was such a nightmare. I swear to you, I got to the point that if they were shady in any way and got my spidey senses tingling, I'd ask them for live video footage of them with the chicks. 🤣 I was so over it; one lady, it was so blatantly obvious she was a scammer. I asked her for a video, and I wanted her to hold that day's newspaper up too, and if she could produce that for me, I'll maybe carry on with this convo. 🤣

Omg😡! I tried to cancel comma, but I already paid the cost of the birds and the box. So I lost money, even though I tried to reason with them to refund my money back. They were very rude and even threatening.
I wouldn’t be doing my cc at all unless they were accepting paypal due to fraud protection you have with that and being reimbursed isn’t a song and a dance.

For future reference, though (if you decide to even attempt it again after this monstrosity), the majority of scammers won’t even know the correct names or breeds; their English is very bad; they pressure you into trusting them; they happen to have every single breed in stock that you inquire about, mention picking up and POA (even if you truly can't or have no intentions on doing so, it's to test them), and they absolutely refuse, etc. Those are just a few red flags.
