is there a reason that chicks are shipped by USPS and arriving 2-3 days after they were shipped out?
I have purchased tortoises and lizards from several different states. California being the furthest away from Illinois. A couple of my tortoises and all my lizards were shipped FedEx next day and arrives by 10:00 A.M.next morning. A couple tortoises shipped Delta Airlines and arrived same day.
Now, the reptiles cost much more then a baby chick or even several of them. My concern is with the death of the animal not their worth. Seems the death rate would be considerably lower.
The amount some of the hatcheries are charging for shipping, is not much less then we pay for next day FedEx.
Can FedEx next day be requested?

FedEx does not accept poultry. The post office is the only shipping service that handles poultry. So that's why all shipping is done through them.

FedEx does not directly accept live poultry shipments. However in some cases (like here) they are contracted to deliver live birds between USPS sorting facilities. I have had them bump live poultry for dry ice when they should not have, resulting in birds arriving 24+ hours late. On top of that the USPS cannot find them while they are in FedEx hands, making the USPS look even more incompetent.

Or in one case it seems they were NOT bumped for dry ice. Resulting in 2 boxes of extremely rare birds arriving DOA.

Thanks for the responses. I don't like them lol, but nothing I can do. It's too bad too. My usps service isn't great.
