But doesn't it add an "s" when making it "pussy".....like "rob" goes to "robbed" ...............I don't care. It's still funny.

Its a young bird it has not started to lay yet, Possible nearly 1year old Sussex

Still could be anything. Usually pasty butt is more associated with younger chicks, but not always.

Vent Gleet has a bad smell associated with it.

Try getting her cleaned up. The ammonia in the poop can cause the skin to burn. Then trim the fluff away from the vent.

Try feeding her organic plain yogurt. The kind with probiotics in it. That might help her digestion.

Can you post a picture?
And are there any other symptoms?
Any possibilty that she got into something bad to eat or drink?

it sound like a pasty butt you need to wash of the butt with warm soap water and rinse with warm water

btw pussy is cat that is meowing that what i thought for ages

Thanks IMP, Very good advice, I hope its not gleet, it advised culling,They get fed Vwell ,yogurt on the odd occasion / Milk , Fresh corn, good mixed grain feed, Layers Pellets, Free to Range every day. Have had trouble posting Pixs here but will try again when i get the chance.

Gleet is mentioned VERY rarely here on BYC. I'm thinking it might be VERY rare indeed.

I see Camelot Farms already suggested yogurt among other good advice. Kudos to her.

If it's just the one chook and she is very late for laying I'd suspect she is an internal layer and will be seeping the pus out her vent. Sorry, this would be very bad news, always fatal.

I have a RIR that has a dirty butt all the time. Once I saw some blood drip from her vent. She seems fine though, she eats and acts just like a normal chicken. I don't know how old for sure but maybe about 4 yr. I still wonder about the blood drip though.
