Shivering while molting

If it were my bird, I'd put an appropriate sized crate in the coop, with some hay in the bottom, and a small waterer, and feeder, then cover it with an old blanket or towels, leaving a small section open for air flow, so it doesn't get frostbite. Let it out every day, then when they go to roost, put it in the cage. There is no reason not to help keep it a little warmer like that at night, when you see it's shivering. Increasing the protein, especially with the mackerel, will help it feather faster, and better. When it gets feathered in some, and can hold in some body heat, then remove the crate.
 
Mrs. K, I've done this several times. As long as there is enough ventilation at the top on one side, not the side where the chicken is resting, it won't get damp.
