Hi I have a road island red chicken yesterday I found my chicken laying a egg in the dirt and normally it lays in the coop a few moments later I found her on my pouch cuddled up in a Corner she was citing different like she was sick just laying there seamed a like she was breathing a little heavier then norm so I went in the house a got some fresh water sat it down and came back out a few minutes later and she had moved from the corner and was laying there she looked at me then her body shook quickly like she had a short seizure fell over and died after she died I noticed she had blood coming out from her beak and had a wet blood spot on her chest . I had some roofers working on my roof that day and thought maybe she got hit with a roof tile

Hey Ramonared, Welcome to BYC, I am so very sorry that the circumstances in which you join us are not good and I am also sorry for your loss :(

I wish I could answer your question but there are so many things that could have caused her demise and sadly you may never know which one.

You are right that it could have been a predator. Any other signs of an attack at all?
It could also be some form of poisoning.
It could have been an accident as you mention.
She may have bumped her chest and caused internal bleeding.
Or, so many other possibilities.

Probably the only way to know for sure would be to have a necropsy performed.
