I had 6 chickens in my flock. A fox came in. 3 found dead, 2 missing, 1 survivor that is in the coop! She is in shock, what should I do?

Poor you!!!! Wow.. that's awful. She will be in shock for a while - maybe a day or two. She needs to be put into a quiet, dark, safe environment - like a dog kennel - with a blanket over it. Make sure she has a water supply - preferably with vitamins like poly-vi-sol WITHOUT iron, and some sort of electrolyte solution. If you have a small stuffed animal to put in with her it might make her feel better. As for food, make her usual food available, but in the morning, try some soft scrambled eggs or a bit of canned cat food. I hope you are able to find the other two.

She is locked up in her coop currently which is pretty dark and secure. She was snuggled in one of the nest boxes last night. This morning I knelt down and talked to her some more for about 15 minutes as she talked back to me. Then she slowly walked over to her food and water and had some.

I'm going to have my husband put a stuffed animal in the coop with her. I feel soo bad for her!!!! She lost her entire family and almost lost her own life. Now she is all alone. I am hoping to get some more pullets soon. It will never be the same for her though :(

I left the dog on guard at least for the AM. Which is the time the fox came yesterday. I hope another is alive, but I feel the chances are extremely low. It would be so much better for her if there was at least one more!!
