Short Face help

Can anyone recommend a reputable breeder where I can purchase some Short Face birds? Just looking for pet quality, but certainly willing to pay for quality birds. Thanks!

What type of short faced pigeons are you looking for? Do you mean short faced or just short beaked? Do you want short faced birds for show or (in case of the Tumblers) performance? Are you looking for birds which have really, really short beaks/faces or ones with beaks fairly short, but just long enough to feed their own young?

There are different varieties such as Budapest Short Faced Tumblers, Berlin Short Faced Muffed Tumblers and English Short Faced Tumblers, certain types of Moorheads are short faced/beaked, certain types of Portuguese Tumblers are moderately short faced/beaked, and then there are also Oriental Frills and Classic Old Frills. I know of a few people who raise quality Classic Old Frills, and could do a quick online search for the other breeds. Just depends on what you are looking for!

I'm looking for any of the Short Face birds. Performance is not an issue for me since I'm not looking for competition or show birds. I'm just a huge fan of these birds and I have a great deal of experience in the show chicken and hookbill worlds. I understand the needs of handfeeding these breeds and really just want to start my own small flock of pigeons. Any help finding birds would be greatly appreciated!

I prefer the Classic Old Frills for their generally peaceful yet liveley personality, and I am especially fond of the Satinettes

. Their beaks are long enough to eat and normally function without hardly any problems, and in most cases they can also feed their own young. I personally find it a little sad that there are breeds of pigeons with beaks so short or other features over-exaggerated so as to greatly limit the birds of their normal functions such as eating, walking, and feeding their own young, but every person has their own interest of breeds and preference of what they want their pigeon to look like. It is part of what is keeping the hobby alive.

There are also quite a few listings for various breeds of pigeons under the Slobberknocker's auction site. I am not too fond of most online pigeon auctions, but I have purchased a couple of pigeons from Slobberknocker's with no problem and it seems to be one of the most reputable all-breed pigeon auction sites out there. Right now there is a large selection of various breeds and birds. At the moment I am seeing some Old German Owls and Classic Old Frills among many other beautiful breeds and birds (including some beautiful Opals and Almonds

And last but certainly not least, Kari Jo at Sugarbunnie Loft occasionally allows her pet pigeons to raise their own special little youngsters, a few of then being of quality short faced breeds. Her pigeons are truly special and she will only allow them to go to responsible, loving, and caring owners who have a wonderful home for the pigeons and lots of time to spend caring for their pet birds.

TRY THE AZ. PIGEON CLUB THERE IS A WEB SITE WITH A CLASSFIELD SECTION . I THINK THEY ARE ALSO ON THE NPAUSA.COM WEBSITE THAT IS THE NATIONAL PIGEON CLUB THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO GET IN PIGEONS AS BREEDERS ARE GETTING DOWN TO WHAT THEY WILL BREED FROM NEXT YEAR
