Short height runs?

here are some before and after pictures of mine. I made it taller this past August.

This was the chicken run in the beginning....

this is it now... well.. this was it in April. Now it is covered in snow!
I made it all out of pieces of wood that I could find, but it does the job.
If I ever give it a real roof, like that corrugated plastic stuff, it will look better for sure!
Remember, I did this by myself.. and it got to be a little challenging towards the end.. I found
that my arms weren't quite long enough to reach up and add wood screws!

As you can see.. the door is still tiny. I plan to move the door over to the left.. some day!

Rustyswoman.. your idea is a good one for a run to use on occasion. I like it.
This way the grass won't get eating down to nothing.
You know what I mean? A run to not use every day.

Lisamayc, I use t posts and fencing for my run. My run is only about 5 ft tall and not covered. I don't confine the chickens to the run all the time though. THe only ones who really get out when the gate is closed are the roos. I live in prairie land, no trees and pretty much the only predators are hawks, falcons and coyotes. So far (4 years now) we haven't had any hawks bother them.

I have a short run, and I don't mind it at all! and it serves double duty as potting table. It is only far enough to reach a rake into. I have a door on three sides, not the top, and thus easy to reach any spot. I have been using it for a year with no complaints. See my signature for pics.
