Hello; I have a one year old austrolorp that not doing good. The only symptom is that she is lethargic. The day before she was fine and active. Yesterday I found her laying down beside the waterer. The rest of the flock was out free ranging and appear healthy. Her poop was runny. Now it appears more solid but not totally. She is eating and drinking but not as much as normal. She was drinking more than normal yesterday so she must have been dehydrated. I have brought her inside and now in a cage to keep her out of the cold. Would a sick hen continue to lay eggs or can they hold off while sick. What would her poop be like if an egg was lodged? Any ideas as to what might be wrong with her? If she was a human i would think she has a cold or the flu.

I found one of our girls with the same symptoms yesterday. We brought her in and after she ate some canned corn she perked back up so I put her back out. This morning she seemed fine by the time I went out this afternoon I found her in the same stooper. So she is back in again and I too would love to here from others as to what might be the problem.

Thanks for replying. I'll give her some canned corn too and see if that helps....thanks again for the info

Well she ate the canned corn like it was going out of style. Didn't give here too much. So far so good

Glad to hear she ate the corn. My girl won't eat it today so I am going to get some coccidiosis meds in the morning and see if that won't help.
All the Best,
Lisa
