Should i add water in the incubator or not in my case?

The first 7 days it's real small. I don't even worry until the period between 7 and 14 days. That's when I really concentrate on the air cells.
Hi Amy, Happy easter first of all. I candled today my eggs and most of them have veins showing in them, which is good news. but i am concerned about my humidity. i haven't put any water in the incubator at all from the beginning of the process. it is still at 47-56%. shouldnt i put any water at the first 18 days? i am asking you cause you look experienced with incubation in it's tiny details. Did you know anyone who had my case? and what did he/she do ? Thank you in advance.

Have you ever checked the hygrometer for accuracy? If you are running that high dry, then I would NOT add any water the first 17 days and I would check the air cells to make sure they are growing right. If not I would try rice or unpopped popcorn in there to try to bring it down.
Here's how I do it: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity

. thank you

You're welcome.
Hi again Amy. How r u? In this incubation (my first), I am trying with 30 eggs. in which 2 only were infertile. today i removed 14 eggs from the incubator after candling them. Today is day 15. the rest are doing good. My question is: the 14 eggs i removed are fertile, they started developing (i broke some of them to see after candling), their are some that has the red line all around. and some of them the embryo just didnt make it. is it because that the temperature was low? i am running my incubator (dry) @ 37.5-38 C. just i try next time with a temperature of 38-39? P.S: Dry homemade incubator. Thank you in advance Amy. God bless you.

Did you install a fan in your incubator? Forced air, 37.5C is perfect, Still air (no fan) 38.3-38.9C should be your goal.
Now, you are running dry, but are you monitoring the percentage of humidity or checking the air cells?

I am not using a fan, it is a still air incubator. and the temperature is 37.5-38. I have a humidity meter, it is between 45-55% almost at all time ( taking into consideration that i live in a place that humidity now is 55-60% outside ). the air cells has grown ( not bad size ), i want to make it a bit bigger but the humidity in my place ain't helping. i tried rice and corn, didnt work. So, do you think that the 14 eggs that i removed which didnt develop good (fertile) where because the temperature was low? Thank you in advance

It's possible delay in growth could affect viability. At only a degree or too low though, I'd expect more slow development-late hatchers than early deaths, at least that many.
