Should I attempt to sex my barnyard mixes?

Do they really go broody that much? I thought it was just my hands-off approach to chickens.
I'd also read that they're still listed as 'medium' egg layers. I thought I saw somewhere 190 eggs/year.
Games are a great bird to have for broodies, right up there with Cochins and silkies

blahhhhh
maybe I do need to start over
idk
they're all so pretty though

basically I wanted a hardier, predator-adverse bird without being overly aggressive. I dont find any of mine to be aggressive, just skittish unless you work with them. and then still a little twitchy because that's hardwired. I have started getting medium white eggs from my pullets.

I’ve never had a game hen lay anywhere close to 190 eggs a year. Don’t believe everything you read.

Cochins and silkies don’t even come close to a game hen as broodies. They might be better than other layer breeds but they aren’t even in the same league.

Even if you don’t allow them to set on eggs they’ll just get pissed and sit on one egg. 😂

That's what a lot of people that have then say, but I know a lot of people think broody and immediately come up with silkies and cochins. I've never had luck with silkies, so I imagine games are very similar yo my pheonixes

I’ve had silkies and a few Cochins too. They both will set but not as often as game hens and will quit fairly often.

I dont know what you're talking about.
*steps in front of game hen and her single baby*
These fools will hatch eggs in the middle of winter. I had a hen last year hatch 2 chicks on Christmas Eve setting on the cold ground under a trash can. 🙄
