Noticed this change in my hen’s comb a day ago . Seems dry to the touch . Any ideas what it might be?

No, not molting ….I don’t know what would cause her stress presently, except we did just come out of some wicked cold sub zero temps . It is on both sides of the comb1. is she molting
2. cause she be dehydrated or stressed
3. is it growing bigger on the comb?

Folks who show poultry use some type of oil to address it and make it *look* nicer..
functionally speaking.. does it seem to be extra itchy to her or anything like that? Does it feel smooth like the rest of her comb, or is rough?
