I've had chickens for years, but always bought hens as day-old chicks. This is my first incubator hatch...

By my count today is day 21 and nada...not a peep or a movement or a crack. I set them around 3:00 pm on the 17th.
If I counted that as Day 1, then today is day 21, but some people say if you set them in the afternoon that is day 0, which would make today only day 20.
I candled the eggs at day 17 before lockdown and all 4 were dark and I could even see the edges of some wet feathers in shadow against the air sack, so I know they were developing fine up till then.

I am SO nervous.... Even if today is day 20 it seems like I should have heard something by now, shouldn't I?
Anybody got any advice?

BE PATIENT! Do nothing. Give it time. DO NOT OPEN THE INCUBATOR UNTIL DAY 22 at the earliest.

I know how hard it is to wait, I do.

My mom has been laughing at me, she says if I'm this nervous about chickens she can't imagine how I will be if I ever have my own kids...but personally I can't imagine a baby possibly being more nerve-wracking than this! Lol

Everything should be fine, it can definitely take longer than 21 days.

As a follow up...
It is now the end of day 21 or 22 (depending how I count), and one of my eggs just started rocking! No pips yet. I haven't touched the incubator but in my mind I had sort of given up on them...

Also, I had set two quail eggs that were also due today but I wasn't sure they were even fertile...the man at the pet store gave them to me to try...and one of the quail just pipped!

Anybody know how long it usually takes for quail to hatch once they pip? I heard they were faster than chickens. I'll poke around in the forums and see if I can find an answer.
Yay, I'm gonna be a quail mommy

I hatched some quail this year and some zipped through their shell like a jigsaw right after they pipped, I'd say 15 - 20 mins hatched after the pip. I've also seen some pip and not zip for hours. Fyi, they're fast little buggers even right after they hatch. Mine were so active I was afraid they were going to knock over the other eggs so I decided to get them out right after hatching and put them in the brooder. Had to chase em down all over the bator when they were 30 seconds old!
