I posted a topic on craigslist to sell a rooster and a few chickens. Day later this lady calls me and said "I would like to buy your chickens" then she asked me for my adress so she can use it for her gps, so I gave her my adress and she said she'll stop by sunday. This is my first time im selling on craiglist and I may just be paranoid but will she try to kill me or somthing?

Anyone here been in the same situation?

CL is a mixed bin.

99.9% of the time it'll be fine, just that .1% paranoia.

Personally I never give out addresses, meet up at a public location, and do not drive home straight away. But, there have been issues in the greater seattle area.

I think you will be fine. I have bought a few things from CL and have not had a problem yet.
There is someone coming to lick up a rabbit from me on Tuesday. It is a good way to get out there what you have available.

Are you female and do you live alone? If you answer yes, then giving out your home address was a foolish idea. There are crazy people out there. Always meet in a public place during daylight hours. Never give out your home address. There is your safety to think of, as well as the safety of your birds. Every few months on here someone posts that their birds have been stolen. If you don't invite people to your farm there is a better chance that it won't happen to you.
On top of the safety issue is the biosecurity issue. A strange person is coming to your land. You have no idea what they might track in with them. Do not let them near your chicken pens. If possible meet them at their car in your driveway. There are some really rotten chicken diseases that can wipe out an entire flock. Better safe than sorry.

If you live alone you might arrange for someone to be there with you when she shows up. She is likely a nice person, but you never know. People can be crazy and Craigslist killers pop up periodically.

If you die, can I have the rest of your chickens? And the feed. And the heat lamps.

I don't give out my address over CL and I mostly don't give out my phone number either unless we have exchanged many e-mails. I still wouldn't be able to confirm that he/she isn't crazy, so I always suggest meeting at a public place. Good luck!

Well if it is someone trying to kill me or steal my birds i'll be ready. I'm gonna carry a knife with me and a 12 gage sawed off shotgun, Im also a male with Spartan blood in me, don't think she will mess with me unless she's a CL prostitute.

Wow, that is so weird. I just got done emailing someone about a roo that I'm rehoming. This person lives in town, and wanted my address to pick him up tonight. My husband won't be home til late, so, um, not going to happen. I will actually be taking the roo to his house, which I am more comfortable with. I've sold a few things on Craigslist, and the only time I've had the buyer come to my house was when I was selling a sectional sofa. Couldn't really meet at the Safeway parking lot for that one. I usually don't give out my address, since I'm female and have children. Even if my hubby were to be there for the sale, who's to say a crazy won't come back when he is not here? If I were male, and armed as you are, I think I would be much more comfortable with it. I do have big dogs, but that's not fool proof.
