We have 13 chickie that are a week old. they are all eating, drinking, pooping, chirping, etc.. We have 1 chick that is the runt. My concern is that she keep opening and closing her beak, almost like something is in there. Should I just leave her since everything else seems normal? Thanks for any advise!

It's not uncommon to get a chick everyone now and again from a hatch that simply fails to thrive. This may be the case with your 'runt'. Unless you have some reason to suspect disease keep taking good care of your chicks and let nature takes its course.

so i checked her again this afternoon.. she seems like she tries to peep but nothing comes out. her crop feels much more full than the others, but havent seen her eat much. any other thoughts?

Maybe take her out and watch her eat a bit .. I like to give my fragile chicks a bit of Pedialite and a few minutes on their own every once in a while to see if they are o.k. Wish you the best of luck .. but it is such a sad fact some chicks just seem frail and with the best TLC dont make it .. Make sure they are picking on her.. Some how they seem to know when something is wrong with a weak chick and pick on them ..
