Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I need to go back through my records and figure out when to expect eggs from all the new girls. I know that it is going to be staggered around. I'm thinking the 3 new pulleys should be starting any time.... then a month or two for the younger set, and the babies are a couple of months old.

Cheeka, if you use heating oil, now may be the time to buy. I called the oil company to see about getting the furnace cleaned, and the oil price is down to $3.30. The cap for people in the monthly plan (their need is estimated from past months, then they are billed monthly over 12 months) is 3.60. I wasn't ready to buy oil, but for such a great price, I would be an idiot to wait! I paid $3.70-3.90 last year! Besides, this way I can be sure to have oil for a while. For the newbies, family drama left me without any heat for over a month last winter, and the thermostat was set at 60* without any additional heat the rest of the cold season.
DH says that the southern states are down in cost right now too.
I was supposed to do so much today. I haven't even gotten the dishes done!

Ohhhh, I am so lazy! It is a good thing the animals are happy to just have food and water. I visited them this morning, but the day is just slipping away! I better get my butt in gear, and collect eggs at least.

Well hubby found another hidden nest in the shop. I swear I'm going to throttle these girls. They were going in there a lot but I was checking. After weeks of no eggs there I gave up. Bug he found a nest of 9 assorted eggs. No idea how long they were there... Girls get more scrambled eggs!!!!

They're smarter than we think...they know how to keep the scrambled eggs coming. Now , they'll just have to find a new hiding place.

2 eggs today after 6 days in a row frizzle took swell deserved break still 3 laying. Wondering if the other 10 that are almost 21 weeks will start soon. I also started artificial sunlight have the timer set for a few extra hours in the morning, I thought it would help with laying times too but not noticing a difference the girls lay their eggs right between 11-1

This morning at 8:15 I looked out the window and saw a hawk sitting on the chicken coop. The girls are safe. There is no way that a bird of prey can enter the coop or the pen. It is completely enclosed. But... now the hawk knows that the girls are there. Darn it all anyway!! When the hawk saw me, it flew and sat on the rail of the boat. It looks very similar to the type of hawk that shows up at your place Mortie.

Nugget and Penny are on the nest. Smoke was in the coop.
