Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Thankfully I have no broodies! And squirt laid an egg today after her raising of the OE babies.

I cheated and broke out my incubators.

Deciding how I want to brood these once they hatch. Thinking I might keep them inside for two weeks then put them outside w the Eco glow after that. I have a pretty good outside brooder set up for squirt and I think the Eco glow w work out there well enough. I just have to get squirt and babies moved out and integrated w flock.

I swear I'm constantly planning rotating birds as I always seem to have babies!!!

We got some rain last night!

Just a bit, but enough that things are still blissfully damp this morning. Won't even put a dent in this 3 yr drought, but sure feels good!


I still have 3 stubborn broodies, down from 8 that were broody a couple of weeks ago. It's 3 bantams that are broody too. I had put some eggs under for them to hatch, but suddenly realized how crowded it would be in the pen, and pulled the eggs. Chicken math almost got me!
